Elliot: A Soldier's Fugue
A Page Seventy-Three Prods. presentation of a play in one act by Quiara Alegria
Hudes. Directed by Davis McCallum.
Elliot - Armando Riesco
Grandpop - Mateo Gomez
Ginny - Zabryna Guevara
Pop - Triney Sandoval
Quoted from original article:
"Meanwhile, Riesco's turn as Elliot succeeds
for the opposite reason. He doesn't seem to be acting at all, but instead recalls
an actual teenage soldier. Slouchy, inarticulate, and desperate to see his mom,
Elliot is a painfully familiar kid.
For Elliot's centerpiece speech about
being wounded in combat, Hudes gives the character a distinct voice, but Riesco
enhances it with a perfect stream of "ums" and "y'knows."
And his small movements reveal suppressed feeling, obliquely expressing emotion
like any soldier might when he tries to stay tough in the face of horror."
